🇮🇹 Scalea – The Heart of the Cedar Riviera

When people think of Calabria, they often imagine rugged mountains, wild nature, and turquoise seas. And Scalea is where all of that comes together – a town that lives both its history and its present.

Since ancient times, Scalea has been inhabited thanks to its strategic location on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The old part of town – Scalea Vecchia – stretches along the hillside, offering postcard-like views. Narrow cobblestone alleys, weathered palaces, old churches, and the shadows of the past will lead you to the ruins of a Norman castle. Every stone whispers a story.

In contrast, the lower and modern part – Scalea Nuova – lives in the present. Cafés smelling of espresso, markets with fresh fruits, evening promenades filled with locals and tourists, gelato shops, and a beach that stretches for several kilometers along the coast. A morning swim, an evening pizza with a sunset view – what more could you ask for?

The city's most iconic landmark is the Torre Talao, an old watchtower that is now one of the most photographed places in all of Calabria. And if you're interested in history on a deeper level, be sure to visit the local archaeological museum, housed in a former noble palace.

Scalea is an ideal starting point for trips along the Cedar Riviera, named after the rare citrus fruit – the cedar – which is typical for this area. Nearby, you'll also find the Pollino National Park, one of the largest natural areas in Italy, perfect for hiking and wilderness lovers.

🌅 Whether you're seeking peace, adventure, gastronomy, or history, Scalea will surprise you with its authenticity and warmth. It’s not just a resort – it’s a place to live.
